Are there any campsites on or anywhere near the Chief Ladiga Trail? I'd appreciate any leads on this that anyone can give me. I'm hoping to find something close to the Georgia border, but please let me know about whatever campsites yall know about. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the only campground I know anywhere near there is in Rockmart GA. It's called The Rock.
I did a google search and found a list of Campgrounds within 25 miles of the Chief Ladiga Trail (click RV and Campgrounds link at the bottom). City of Piedmont, AL - Campgrounds |

I found that same list, but I'm not quite sure how to get to those places from the trail. I appreciate your doing the Google search for me. I'll look up that place in Rockmart that you mentioned. Thanks.

I have seen boy scout groups camp out at southern springs near Piedmont before. Also, once you're in the more forested area east of Piedmont, there's several good spots to camp. Camping is also allowed on the Pinhoti trail that crosses the Chief Ladiga before the first big bridge on the unpaved portion. During wet times, there's a small 6-8ft waterfall along the creek headed south on the Pinhoti probably about a half mile out I'd guess? Just watch for a large rock in the stream to your left.

Those campsites listed on that page would be well out of the way if you were just biking and wanted to camp somewhere.

Awesome,
I appreciate the reply. Is it actually legal to be camping out there? I don't want to get run off by park rangers or anything ya know. Thanks, David |

the pinhoti trail is part of the talledega national forest, it's definitely legal. and I don't see why camping at southern springs would be a problem...i'm not sure I would build a campfire there though.

Why is it that you wouldn't build a campfire there?
