On or off the SCT, what was your most memorable ride?
What was there about it that made it memorable?

It was my first group ride back in 1996. There were 3 ride options: 25 miles was marked in green, 50 in yellow, 100 in red. We started off and I thought I was doing great for the first 3 miles or so but I started falling behind. Every one was taking off and leaving me. I finally came to an intersection and didn't know which way to go. I only saw red and yellow arrows, no green. A rider was coming up behind me (pretty fast) and I asked him as he was going by if he knew which way the 25 milers were supposed to go. He said (looking back) "they turned off to the right about five miles back". So I was way behind my group, had to ride the whole 30 remaining miles by myself through rural areas with packs of dogs getting after me. Now, I consider myself sort of a scardy cat, so my heart rate was way up there on those back roads alone.

Dang........I hate that, but been there done that. In fact, it was just the past April.
Not such a bad thing, but always hate the unintended extra miles. Scenery pretty .......not bad, just enjoy. Anybody else have a story to share? Bet there are plenty of vets out there with some stories out of the Twilight Zone. NC Bob

My most memorable ride was when I hit a rock on the trail and was thrown from my bike. I woke up, decided to go back to the truck and rode back. I must have as
I have no memory of the ride back! I then drove to a friends house and cleaned up. I have no memory of the drive! So, I have at least a 45 minute period of
amnesia. That event caused me to miss all the century rides I had planned for the Spring. I had headaches daily for three months. I still have the odd headache
once in a while. This all happened last March. Sure was glad I was wearing a helmet.
